WEST MIDDLE SCHOOL students listen to expert from food program

On October 8 Mr. Brece Clark from the Educated Choices Program spoke to West Middle School sixth-grade science classes. Mr. Clark gave us a wealth of information on food choices and encouraged us to eat more plant-based food to improve longevity and quality of life.

Based on recent research, we should limit our intake of milk and dairy products. Mr. Clark suggested we drink more water, especially with meals. Even though our citizens do consume enough protein, we lack in fiber and healthy carbohydrates. Due to science and the food industry we have many more healthy choices and meat substitutions than ever before.

Students listened to Mr. Clark’s suggestions and will definitely be more conscious of their eating habits. We hope they drink more water. It is our school’s hope that our students choose “colorful foods” as in the saying, “Eat the Rainbow”.
