Dear Taylor School District Parents/Guardians and Community Members,
Happy summer! With cool weather in June and lots of rain, it seemed like summer would never arrive. However, before we know it, it will be time to get ready to kick off 2019-20 school year. The faculty and staff of the Taylor School District are so excited to welcome back our returning students and say hello to our new enrollees. This summer, the district has invested heavily in facilities repairs in all buildings, is installing bus cameras on all buses, is expanding the video camera system in the high school, and will be adding camera systems in all elementary schools.
We continue to add to our STEM technologies at all levels including virtual reality headsets, robots, chromebooks and laptops, coding experiences and technology integrated lessons taught through the use of Clevertouch boards in lab environments with an emphasis on experimentation, hands-on project-based experiences, and learner focused inquiry. Last year’s addition of middle school football and wrestling helped build the athletic feeder program, and the first year of Taylor High School with its’ highly competitive teams was a huge success.
In addition to the above, we are installing new roofs at some of our schools, installing new tile floors, and purchasing five new buses to increase to 23, the number of new buses purchased over the last two years. These are just some more examples of how the Taylor School District is using the bond funds that the city of Taylor voters approved three years ago. On behalf of the students and staff of the Taylor School District, thank you again for supporting these important improvements!
The district administration is also working to continue building our network of business and industry partners as we prepare for the second year of Taylor High School’s career pathway academies. By expanding business partnerships, and enhancing our curricular pathways, the Taylor School District will enrich our graduates’ career and college ready skills.
With all of the positive energy and everyone rallying around the district’s student-centered focus, I am already looking forward to the beginning of the new school year. I wish everyone an amazing 2019-20 school year and my team and I are committed to doing the very best we can to make that happen. Please don’t hesitate to call me with any questions or suggestions that you might have.
