DEBBIE STELLINI: Board president welcomes students to new year

Debbie Stellini

Hello, and welcome to the Taylor School District for the 2019/20 school year.  We look forward to graduating the class of 2020 and providing exceptional educational opportunities for all students and staff.

Thank you for choosing to enroll your children with us.  Our compassionate and dedicated teachers and staff are waiting to greet the students and to enhance their educational and extracurricular opportunities.  Encourage your children to join a club or sport and to empower them to make informed decisions regarding their education based on their interests and strengths.

We look forward to your involvement in your child’s education. Help your child be ready to learn by coming to school on time and rested with their homework completed. Come to the Open Houses at each building to find out what is new and happening in your child’s school. We encourage you to attend our wonderful band, choir, and sporting events.

Volunteer your time and energy by getting involved by joining the PTO or booster club, volunteering at the school, and attending other events and field trips, or by attending a board of education meeting on the second, third and fourth Mondays of the month at 6 p.m.  Please help us to make the students’ experience the best it can be with your time and ideas.  We welcome parent and community volunteers.

When touring our school buildings you will find: enhanced outdoor lighting, video cameras and new buses, and buildings that have been painted and scrubbed clean by our summer crew.  We invested heavily in aligning our curriculum with career opportunities/internships and in technology.

We have been collaborating with Wayne County Community College, SEMCA, Taylor Rotary and other businesses to enhance our students’ educational opportunities so that they are college and career ready for the pathway they choose for their life.  Please check out the Taylor Public School Foundation for Educational Excellence link on our website to search for scholarship opportunities for our seniors.

Look at for our new policies and administrative guidelines and procedures that have been updated.

We are also in the process of upgrading our website to make it more user friendly.

Let us know how we can help you support our students and staff so that we all have a successful school year.
